Ten Reasons to Have a Small Wedding

Christina has her own Ten Reasons to Have a Small Wedding. I thought I’d offer 10 more good reasons to snip.

1. Rush Order

With fewer people and details to oblige, you’ll have the option to cut down your time-line. Want to be married by this time three months from now? Not if you have 150+ guests, you don’t.

2. Spare Feelings
With a small wedding, you have an easy out to tell people who aren’t invited. If you’re having a large gathering, it gets a little harder to tell them why they didn’t make the cut.
3. Have a Lavish Honeymoon
It’s inevitable during the planning process to, at some point, want to speed up to the honeymoon. Have the getaway you pictured in your mind with more money available to spend and less worry on your brow while you enjoy the time away.
4. Leave the Option for a Destination Wedding
Whether your dream is getting married on the beach or eloping at city hall, you leave the option open with a smaller guest list. Asking 150+ people to travel or fit within city hall is a bit trickier.

5. Have a Moment Alone with Your New Spouse

Stop. Soak it in. It’s not something many couples get to do on their wedding day because of stress, obligatory conversations and details they have to manage and take care off. Take a moment to enjoy each other on your wedding day, because that’s what it’s all about, right?

6. You Don’t Have to Make Small Talk with Mere Acquaintances
You don’t care to meet up with that one friend you had from way back when (even though she is on your Facebook friends list)  – especially on your wedding day. Your second cousin that you haven’t seen in ten years? Not interested. And what about that handful of co-workers who bore you to tears? With a small wedding, there is no pressure to include them.
7. Keepsake Photos
With too many guests, it could be something like herding cats to get the keepsake family photos you will someday want. If you don’t want them now, mom & dad, grandparents and children someday will.
8. Go Green
Save the rainforests! Save the polar bears! Save the cheerleader…Wait. There is an exceptional amount of waste that is involved with weddings. With less people, you’ll have less paper to send out (saving you from writer’s cramp in the thank you note arena as well), less food, less trinket favors and less waste all around. You’ll also have a pretty fool-proof out for those that question their lack-of-invitation…because who will argue with a polar bear?
9. You Can Cut Loose
With your friends and family in a comfortable setting, you’ll feel free to dance, play music you actually like and celebrate like you just got married.

10. It’s a Wedding, Not a Reunion

There’s no need to pay $30-$100 per head for dinner to rekindle old friendships. It may seem like a good idea when you’re planning, but when you’re sharing your first kiss as a married couple and Suzy-in-Everyone’s-Business stares at you with that I’m-totally-tweeting-this smile, you’ll wish you had chosen closer friends and family to share your day with.

Dress to show a fashion Impress Casually

Whenever there is an event, informal or formal, people are ready to wear their most beautiful, elegant, stylish, and flashy attires they have. We are always dressing to impress others. It can make us feel more comfortable of ourselves. Clothing can describe who we are before even saying anything. It can boost our confidence and let us to express ourselves without having second thoughts. In the modern society, it is important to feel confident and what you wear has a huge effect on your confidence level. This is true in places where society will judge you on the clothing and accessories you wear. So how would you dress to impress others in a casual atmosphere?
For guys, it is relatively simple. He can throw on a tee, jeans, flip flops, and he is ready to go. Guys can also wear polo, cargo shorts, button downs, vans, or converses. What really impress others are the accessories they wear. I believe the most impressive things a guy should wear is either a nice necklace, bracelet or watch. A necklace that has the beach-like feel is considered very casual. Wood-beaded necklaces or leather necklaces are very casual. Bracelets on a guy are very fancy. Bracelet is something very basic. It can be made out of strings or just Lance Armstrong wrist bands. I consider wrist bands a type of bracelet merely because it goes around the wrist. Watches are also very flashy for guys. It shows a lot in a guy. Time is very important to him. A potential leader usually wears a watche because his time is very valuable.
For girls, it is a little tougher on deciding what to wear. They will have too match your flats to your dress and then to your bag. Sometimes they will have to match with their earrings and bracelets to go along with the rest of the outfit. Girls will have trouble deciding what earrings to wear because they will have so many. Bracelets are usually worn everyday. Bracelets will not have to be changed as frequently as earrings. Girls will have to wear jewelry to make them look younger and more elegant. It is very casual for girls to wear necklaces and bracelet. It can be very laid-back.
A few brands that I believe are very casual for casual wear are Uniqlo, Gap, Express, American Eagle, Emitations, and H&M. Casual clothing are very important because it is easy to just put something on and leave the house in a matter of minutes. You don’t have to spend too much time on deciding what to wear. If you’re looking for something quick to wear and be able to impress others at the same time, dressing casual is the way to go.

Every bride wants to stand out her wedding day

Every bride wants to stand out her wedding day (really, who doesn’t?), but it may take a little Hollywood inspiration to ensure that you’re a total knockout when you walk down the aisle. Want to know how you can transform yourself into the ultimate A-lister, minus the designer price tag? Check out these celebrity essentials for ’09.The Dress
Think glamorous, romantic, and goddess-like. There’s nothing shy about this season’s sexy silhouettes — more is definitely more!
Big Dress Details: Crystal belts, crumb catchers, ruffled rows, and big bows are just some of the fabulous finishes that have been spotted on the red carpet this award show season. While stars like Heidi Klum went for shock value (her Golden Globes look featured a black and red polka dot vintage Galanos dress with a huge rosette), we were awed by elegant crumb catcher detailing (Globes presenter Kate Beckinsale gets our best-dressed vote), and by large, ornate bows (like the one on Katy Perry’s Grammy choice — a pink Basil Soda gown).
Bare Shoulders: Asymmetrical tops and halter straps are a must this season. While strapless dresses will most likely always be a wedding staple, an asymmetrical look adds a demure finish to an evening gown. Cameron Diaz dazzled at the Golden Globes in a bright pink asymmetrical Chanel Haute Couture gown; Oscar favorite Kate Winslet kept cameras clicking as she slinked down the red carpet at the BAFTAs in a black Zac Posen halter dress. Bonus: Each of these styles manages to flatter both a slim silhouette and brides with a fuller figure!
Bold Blues and Soft Yellows: Bright blues and canary hues have been hard to miss this award show season. These fresh colors can add zing to your wedding color palette when paired with a soft metallic. Golden goddesses Christina Applegate and Marisa Tomei have recently heated up the red carpet in delicate daffodil, while stars like Angelina Jolie and Nicolette Sheridan struck a pose in rich, ocean-inspired tones.

Who Are the New Fashion Designers to Watch?

The Sweetheart Table and Other Alternatives for Your Small Wedding

If you’re having a small guest list, it might not be appropriate to have a wedding head table – especially if half your guests will be up there!

Darin and I (we had 50 guests at our wedding) didn’t like the idea of a head table. I didn’t want to feel like I was on stage all night. I wanted to feel like I was part of the group.

Rather than be set apart from our guests, we sat at a round table that was placed among the other tables in the tent. Since we had a small wedding party, our table included both sets of parents, my maid of honour and Darin’s best man.

Here are other great alternatives to the wedding head table:

The Sweetheart Table – This seems to be the most popular alternative to the head table. It only includes you and your significant other and can be situated wherever you want.

John and Kerry, for instance, chose to sit at a sweetheart table in the middle of the room.

“The other tables formed a circle around us…. It was a great feeling to be surrounded by our families and friends. I recommend the sweetheart table all the time to friends planning weddings.”

The Community Table – If you’re having a very small guest list, why not have everyone sit at the same table. You can’t beat that for intimacy! This format worked out beautifully for Shannon and Robert, who had eight guests.

“The entire evening we felt as though we had just our friends over for dinner. It was truly amazing,” says Shannon.

If you have a larger guest list you can do what Mellinda and Rondell did. They had 57 guests at their medieval themed wedding, and had guests sit at a “U” shaped table – with the head table at the bottom of the “U”.

The “I’ll Sit With Whomever I Want” Table – Maybe you’ll have a small wedding party (or won’t have one at all). Why not include your closest family members at your table? As I mentioned earlier, Darin and I choose to sit with our parents. We wouldn’t have had it any other way!
